Publication Agreement

You (‘author’) agree to the following terms and conditions if your work is accepted for publication by us (‘Penstricken’):
Grant of Rights
You grant us exclusive first publication rights to publish your work on our website and in a print-on-demand magazine, available for purchase indefinitely.
Publication Timeline and Reversion of Rights:
We aim to publish your work before 31st January at the very latest for our winter issues, and 31st August at the very latest for our summer issues. If we have not published your work by this date, the publication rights will revert to you. You retain the right to publish your work elsewhere immediately after its first publication by us. All other rights remain with you.
Copyright
You retain full copyright ownership of your work.
Editing
We may make minor edits to your work to correct spelling/grammatical errors etc, or to make it consistent with our in-house style. All edits will be subject to your agreement.
Attribution
We will credit you by name and include a biography in our magazine.
No Compensation
You acknowledge that you will not receive monetary compensation for the publication of your work.
AI generated work
By submitting your work, you explicitly affirmed it is entirely your own original creation and was not generated, in whole or in part, by artificial intelligence/LLMs. You warrant that the work was created entirely by human authorship without the use of artificial intelligence (AI)/large language models (LLM). You assume sole financial and legal responsibility for defending against, indemnifying, and holding Penstricken harmless from any and all claims, allegations, actions, or losses arising from the alleged or actual use of AI in the work.
Legal Protection and Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Penstricken from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising out of the publication of your work, including but not limited to claims for copyright infringement or defamation.
Governing Law
This agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom.
By submitting your work, you indicate that you have read and agree to the terms outlined in this agreement.
