I’m Still Here

I haven’t posted in ages, so this is just a quick one to assure all four of you that I’ve not died and that I continue to work doggedly in the background.

I am, in fact, elbow-deep in querying agents for my latest picture book (not Detective Mo), known to all but the chosen few as Project 🐔. No bites yet but it’s still very early days. I will definitely let you know when there’s news on this front.

One thing I will not do, however, is self-publish this new book. In fact, I’m not self-publishing anything ever again (except more Detective Mos). If that means I never publish again as long as I live then so be it. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: it’s traditional publishing or bust for me from now on (but I still absolutely love, admire and laud all you self-published authors out there who are producing work that’s as good and sometimes even better than traditional publishing— it’s just not for me).

I have also written a very rough first draft for yet another picture book, which I hereby dub Project 👢 until I’m ready to reveal its true title. It’s still at a very, very embryonic stage. Even my wife hasn’t seen it yet, but I’m cautiously optimistic about it.

On the novel front, I’m about a third of the way through draft 2.2 of Project E. It’s been a bit of a slog as I’ve tried to iron out various little parts of the story that were niggling me (mainly the romantic subplot, which is awkward and clumsy but not for long).

Oh, by the way, I’m still looking for people to review Detective Mo for me. Drop me a line if you’re up for it!

Ciao.
