Detective Mo 3 is Coming Soon

Yeah, I know, I haven’t blogged in ages again. It’s because what little time I have for writing has been devoted almost exclusively to Project E (title tba).

It’s coming along okay. I’m now on my fourth draft (draft 2.3 to be precise) in which I’m trying to tidy up the minor antagonist’s rather sloppy character arc. What I really want to talk about today is Detective Mo.

I’ve been threatening to write a third Detective Mo book for a while. I had been tinkering around with a manuscript loosely inspired by The Hound of the Baskervilles but it wasn’t really going anywhere and the half finished first draft has been languishing in my documents for months now without any real progress being made.

Then, just a couple of days ago, Mo came to me while I was cleaning my kitchen and whispered another brand new adventure into my ear.

I abandoned the housework and quickly wrote down everything she told me: about a fellow detective who had came to her looking for help catching a notorious criminal who had baffled the police for months and who had struck again right under the detective’s nose at a birthday soirée at a rich man’s manor. She told me how there were more suspects than she had ever had to deal with before and how she and her colleague used cool, deductive reasoning to identify the true culprit.

In other words, it’s going well. The mystery is proving a little complex but I think I’ve managed to make it work and I’ve done a few preliminary pencil illustrations as well. I hope to be able to do a title reveal fairly soon, assuming there aren’t any glaring problems I haven’t anticipated.

Stay tuned.
