We’re Making Some Changes

It’s been a busy year and a half for us here at Penstricken. And so, we’re making a few changes to how we do things around here.

We have decided – at least on a trial basis – to change how often we publish our magazine, from quarterly to biannually, every summer and winter. This is quite simply because the number of submissions we receive has steadily risen over the last year and a half (🎉), and it’s important to us that we give ourselves the necessary time to consider each submission carefully.

This also means that our submission windows will remain open for a little longer. For example, the submission window for our upcoming Winter issue (Journeys) will open on 5th July and close on 1st September. This should allow us to accept more submissions, and still give us ample time to respond to everyone and put together an issue that does justice to the gorgeous writing you all keep sending us.

We also have a brand new submission form for our upcoming submission window, which I think you will agree is a vast improvement on the Google Form we previously used, and should make it easier for everyone to make submissions (whether they have a Google account or not!).

Oh and by the way, in case you didn’t see us banging on about it on social media over the last few weeks: we have also begun to nominate our favourite submissions/competition entries for Pushcart Prizes. So if you’ve made, or are planning to make a contribution to The Sublime and the Ridiculous, Descent or Journeys this year, keep an eye out as we’ll be contacting our nominees later in the year.

Thanks again for all your support. You guys are just the best 😍.
